Wedding planner in Messina and the islands
The stretch of coast west of Messina is the part of Sicily that tourism mostly passes on its way somewhere else. For a wedding, that is the entire appeal.
Why get married in Messina and Milazzo
This is castle country. Fortified villages sit above the Gulf of Milazzo, and several of the castles are privately held and available for weddings — not as a slot between other bookings, but as a building you take over for the day.
Because fewer people come here, you get things that are difficult elsewhere on the island: exclusive use as standard rather than as an upgrade, no crowd walking through your photographs, and prices that have not been shaped by five-star tourism.
The Aeolian Islands are visible from the coast and reachable by boat from Milazzo, which gives guests somewhere to go before or after — and gives you the option of a ceremony on the water.
What a castle wedding costs you
- —Fewer suppliers locally. The florists, stylists and production people who work at this level are mostly based around Catania and Taormina, so they travel. Manageable, and we build it in, but it is a cost the region carries.
- —Guests need more guidance. Nobody has heard of Roccavaldina. Your invitation has to do more work, and guests will need clearer instructions than they would for Taormina.
- —Accommodation is thinner. There are good hotels along the coast and in Milazzo, but not the density Taormina has. Larger guest lists get split across several places.
- —Historic buildings have rules. Castles come with restrictions on what can be attached to walls, how late music can run and where vehicles can go. We establish these before you fall in love with a room.

The best time for a wedding on this coast
May through October, with the coast staying warm later in the season than inland. June and September are the strongest months.
Being on the water moderates the summer heat, so August is more workable here than it is in the Val di Noto — though the ferries to the islands are at their busiest.
Castle weddings we have planned
Working in a less-travelled region means relationships matter more than the catalogue. We know which castles say yes to an unusual idea and which do not, which suppliers will make the drive, and how to brief guests who have never heard of the village they are flying to.
Castello di Roccavaldina, above the Gulf of Milazzo, is where we planned a baroque concept built as one continuous scene — theatrical styling, couture and live performance. A castle is one of the few venues where a wedding can be that ambitious without the setting fighting the idea.
Questions about Messina
Can we have exclusive use of a castle?
Usually yes, and often as standard rather than at a premium. That is one of the practical advantages of choosing this coast over Taormina.
Can we combine it with the Aeolian Islands?
Yes, and many couples do. Milazzo is the departure port, and the islands work well as a few days before or after for the guests who want them. A ceremony on the water is also possible from here.
Will our guests find it?
With the right instructions, easily. We prepare guest information in English, Italian and Russian, including transfers and a route, so you are not answering the same question forty times.
Is it far from the airport?
About an hour and a half from Catania by road. We arrange transfers for groups so nobody hires a car for a single journey.
