Wedding planner in Taormina

Taormina is the most photographed town in Sicily, and the most demanding place on the island to hold a wedding. Both are true at once, and knowing the second before you commit is what makes the first worth it.

Why get married in Taormina

The town sits on a terrace above the Ionian Sea with Etna on one side and the bay on the other. That view is not a marketing line — it is visible from most venues in town, and it is the reason people book here.

Taormina also solves a problem the countryside cannot: guests can walk. Hotels, restaurants and the ceremony are within a few streets of each other, which matters when you are asking sixty people to travel from another continent. Nobody needs a car, nobody needs a schedule.

It also holds the island's densest concentration of hotels, from small family-run places to names people recognise, which means guests with very different budgets can all stay close to each other.

What a Taormina wedding costs you

Taormina is expensive and it is difficult. Being straightforward about that saves everyone a month.

  • Vehicles are restricted. The historic centre is a limited traffic zone: coaches cannot enter, and some venues are reached on foot or by small shuttle. Guests in heels on a cobbled slope is a planning problem, not a detail.
  • Everything arrives by hand. Flowers, furniture and sound are carried in through narrow streets, usually early in the morning. That is a cost line, and it is higher here than anywhere else in Sicily.
  • Peak season is genuinely crowded. In July and August the town is full, rates are at their highest and the streets stay busy well into the night.
  • Venue capacity is limited. Large guest lists usually move to the coast below the town or to an estate inland, keeping Taormina as the base where everyone sleeps.

The best time for a wedding in Taormina

Late May to mid-June, and the second half of September through October. The light is better, the town is calm, and you are not asking your guests to stand outside in August heat.

April and early November work for smaller weddings, with a real chance of rain — which is manageable if the plan accounts for it from the start rather than on the morning.

How we plan weddings in Taormina

We live in Sicily and we are on the ground here, not coordinating from another city. For Taormina specifically that means walking the route your guests will walk, knowing which venue has a service entrance and which does not, and working with suppliers who can get a van up that hill at six in the morning.

We take a limited number of weddings each season, so the first thing we will tell you is whether your date is open.

Questions about Taormina

Can we legally marry in Taormina?

Yes. Civil ceremonies are held at the comune, and several venues in and around the town are approved for legal ceremonies. There is no residency requirement for foreign couples and the marriage is recognised at home. The paperwork depends on your nationality — usually a nulla osta or equivalent, translated and legalised.

How do guests get around?

On foot, mostly, and that is one of the reasons to choose Taormina. For venues outside the centre we arrange small shuttles, because coaches cannot enter the historic streets.

Is August a bad idea?

It is the busiest and hottest month, with the highest rates of the year. It can be done and we have done it, but May, June, September and October give you a better day for less money.

How far is it from the airport?

Catania airport is about an hour away by road, with direct flights from most of Europe. For groups arriving together a private transfer is simpler than hire cars, given the traffic restrictions in town.
